Ann's First Birthday - AGAIN

15th December 2005

A woman who suffered a cardiac arrest on 15th December 2004 celebrated her first' birthday last week. Ann Jones of Llandonna collapsed in front of her friends who both being members of the Anglesey First Response Scheme, recognised her symptoms as a cardiac arrest and were able to resuscitate her with the use of a defibrillator.

Ann was the scheme's first casualty to be treated by a defibrillator and news of her recovery prompted other volunteers to join and become trained in its use.

The anniversary coincided with the donation of a complete first aid kit together with a defibrillator by the Holyhead Round table to AFRS members. Each complete kit can cost up to £2500 and is such is a welcome addition to the equipment needed by the scheme in order to function efficiently.

The scheme currently comprises of four teams but is hoping to generate enough interest and volunteers to set up teams in and around Amlwch and Llangefni. It is the aim of the AFRS to be able to cover the majority of the Island by the end of 2006, so if you think you could spare the time to become a volunteer and possibly save someone's life, please contact us through the details at the bottom of each page of this site.
