A generous donation from the Bangor & District Round Table means that the Anglesey First Response Scheme team members will be able to potentially save lives on the Island.

The Anglesey First Response Scheme assists the Welsh Ambulance Trust by providing voluntary community personal to attend selected emergency calls.A generous donation of £2,500 , made by the Bangor and District Round Table, means that the Scheme will be able to purchase a full emergency kit for a team, including an automated external defibrillator.

"We are immensely grateful for this donation from the Round Table" said Jane Roberts, the Scheme's Press Officer. "It will not only enable the purchase of an additional kit but also expand the area that we are able to cover, including South Anglesey. Whilst the ambulance service will always attend the emergency call, we, as trained volunteers living in the various communities, can sometimes arrive minutes sooner and in cases of cardiac emergency, time is of the essence.

At a get together to receive the cheque, members of the Round Table were shown the automated defibrillator and all the ancillary equipment their donation would purchase. John Lewis, the Chairman of the Bangor Branch said " If we can be of assistance in saving lives in the community then it is money well spent" He thanked the Scheme members for giving their time and hoped that the donation would 'make a difference'.

The Anglesey First Response Scheme members come from all walks of life and give their time voluntarily. All training is provided and members are fully supported by the Welsh Ambulance Trust.

Additional Team members are always required, time commitment is discretionary and full training is given.Further details via www.angleseyfirstresponse.co.uk
